Competition Policy & Protection of Competition
Productive, performance-based competition is the driving force behind our social market economy. It is therefore one of the key economic-policy tasks of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs to ensure that competition functions well, to combat restrictions on competition effectively, to secure freedom of entrepreneurial initiative and to foster competitive opportunities, especially for small and medium-sized undertakings.
Protecting competition against limitations imposed on entrepreneurial freedom by market participants and against the abuse of economic power is the task of the anti-trust authorities. They can prohibit anti-competitive practices, impose fines for infringements of cartel law or tax away the economic advantage gained by a cartel-related offence.
